We sought out experts like Ladina Schopf, interior designer architect, founder, and co-founder of LS Projects, for tips on picking the right one. We looked at the capacity of storage, layout, and energy efficiency, among other factors.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

As the name suggests, GE's Profile series is targeted at the consumer who wants to incorporate cutting-edge technology in their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with them all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker on the door, to a clever dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly and I was expecting better.

Other than that however, this refrigerator is a great choice. It has a large freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth french door fridge door fridges. It also holds plenty of frozen food, which is a big difference from other models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on par for an French door fridge costing this much. It comes with a decent size refrigerator with an ice maker in the left door. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelving in each compartment to create a customized storage layout for what you want to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is good-looking, too. The LED lighting adds a nice accent. The bins for storage inside come with a third shelf that can be folded down to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to shut and open however I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the full suite of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range with Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and lets you manage your refrigerator from anywhere across the globe. It also offers a lot of customization options. It will also send notifications when the door is left unlocked, when the fridge or freezer must be defrosted and when the filter requires a change.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill it's an option in a few other GE fridges that allows you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to pour out simultaneously. The fridge displays a countdown to reveal how much water is left however it's not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Created to appear as a seamless element of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is one of a kind. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that helps keep vegetables and fruits fresher longer, and two compressors to ensure maximum food preservation. The Ice maker is among the most efficient we've ever tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice that is low in water consumption. This fridge is ideal for a single family or kitchenette that needs an elegant design and top of the highest quality food preservation.

This fridge was rated the top in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a fraction - this is essential to avoid freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, achieving the desired initial set temperature within an hour and maintaining the temperature constant over the course of our tests.

Bosch is known for its top-quality appliances. Therefore, it's no surprise that Bosch counter depth refrigerator is one of them. Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. This app allows you to control and monitor your refrigerator remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is costly however, it offers excellent features and functions at a reasonable cost.

While the fridge is an incredible appliance, it's important to know the limitations. You might need to be creative with tall items because the fridge has a limited shelf space. The shelves are also not spillproof and can easily be stained or damaged by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the fridge. However, they should be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is an excellent counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage into an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has an ordinary french door fridge south africa-door design with gallon-sized door bins on each door as well as two rows of shelves that capture spills and a set crisper drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded in order to create more space for tall items. You'll also find a full-width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.

One of the nice features of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it simple to move frozen ice to the fridge for use when required. The freezer has thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers to help you better organize the position of items. It has a large bin to store frozen food items, and a separate bin for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is another cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a great way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat but it doesn't enhance the efficiency of the fridge. This fridge took longer to defrost food and chill it than some others we tried. This could be due to its greater capacity.

The other issue we have with the doors of this refrigerator. They have sunken handles at the front, which allows shorter people to easily pull them open from the bottom, however they're still difficult for taller people to steer closed without slamming the doors. It would have been better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also less expensive than the best counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door refrigerator that won't cost you a fortune, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a minimalist design that isn't as striking in appearance as other models, but it has enough features to make it a good option. Its most notable characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer, which helps keep foods like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser, as well as an excellent ice machine that works fast.

Another feature that is worth mentioning is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer allows you to redirect the majority of the fridge's cooling power to this area, so that you can store foods that require extra attention. You can adjust this feature using an adjustable slider that is located just outside of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance however it doesn't rank among the best in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also combine this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from grey-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It does an excellent job of repelling fingerprints and streaks, even compared to shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
