Fabric sling seats sit snugly within the buggie's frame instead of over it like modular seats. This design has a lower centre of gravity at the ideal height. It is simpler to push, and is lighter to kerb-pop (you don't know how many times you will do this as a new parent!).

Seating

The seating capacity of 3 wheelers is quite impressive and there are many different options to choose from. The included carrycot plus is ideal for a baby (which MFM reviewer Alice describes as a comfortable and cosy lie-flat bed that can be used both on and off the buggy). Older children and toddlers will appreciate the large and comfortable seat unit with adjustable ventilation. The seats do not fully recline, but they can be lowered to the lowest setting. This should still give your child plenty of headroom and space.

A fabric sling seat is also available. It is set snugly inside the frame rather than sitting on top as the modular seat. This provides a lower center of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier and lighter to push, especially over bumpy terrain or curbs. MFM reviewer Kath was impressed with the way this type of seat negotiated these challenges.

The 3-wheeled frame is much more sturdy and can be moved with one hand. It's also ideal for difficult terrain. The shopping basket is smaller than a four-wheeler.

A high-quality ATP will have pneumatic tyres, a cushioned grip for comfort and excellent suspension. It should also be equipped to carry the form of a car seat and carrycot which means you can use it right from the moment you are born.

MFM's reviewers have noticed that the 3-wheeler frame doesn't fit through all the doors in their homes, or small car boot - be sure you know the dimensions of the buggy once it's folded before purchasing in case you're concerned about space.

It's worth looking into a 3 wheeler pushchair off road-wheeler that can take 2 (or even 3!) This is the best choice for your future and can save you money. The iCandy Strawberry Sport is one of the most sought-after. It can be used as early as day dot as a single buggie and later transformed into twin buggies after your baby is walking.

Tyres

Air filled tyres are designed to give your child an easier ride by cushioning out bumps and uneven surfaces. They are commonly found on pushchairs such as the Phil & Ted's Sport which MFM reviewer Kath discovered to provide "an amazing ride for my toddler". She also said that its grippy tyres made it easier to handle cobbles and kerbs.

These tyres can be difficult to maintain and will require air pressure regularly topped up. They are also more prone to punctures than foam tyres so you'll need to ensure that you have repair kits along with a spare inner tube and pump handy when you're out and about in your buggy.

PU tyres are typically found on pushchairs as they are less expensive than air-filled tyres but are equally robust. PU tire are easily identifiable by their matte finish and soft feel. They also slide easily on even and tied surfaces.

It's usually possible to discern the difference between PU and air-filled tire by running your fingers over each one, if it feels hard then it's made of rubber, If it slides, then it's a PU. You can also check that your buggy has PU tyres by sliding the tyres onto a clean, flat surface They'll roll easily and fit snugly in their wheel hubs.

Foam tyres can withstand the rough terrain associated with high-performance buggies. This can make your buggy less stable because the foam will lose its springy quality. The tyres can also be noisy because they generate a lot noise when you turn or drive around the town.
