I tested the IONXL in a family and kitchen room with hardwood flooring, area rugs, and a standard debris test. It was excellent at cleaning up and removing pet hair, debris, and even some of the more difficult to remove carpet crumbs. It was also good at maneuvering and didn't get in the way of my bar stools like the iRobot j7+ in this test. The only drawback to the ION XL is that it cannot detect shoes, cords, or toys in its path. It is recommended to clean your house before you start this robotic vacuum to avoid them.

The ION XL is not as sophisticated as the iRobot j7+, but it's a good alternative for those who don't want to spend more than $500 on an automated cleaner. It is better than the less expensive RoboVac 11S in most ways it is also more easy to maintain and incurring lower recurring expenses. It also performs better at vacuuming bare floors and picking up pet hair, but it does not perform as well on highor high-pile carpet.

It's not as sturdy however it's an excellent choice. The ION XL has a large bin capacity, and it can be controlled via an app and voice commands, and it is easy to keep up with routine maintenance. It's also a good price.
