User-Friendliness

Powerful Suction

This robot can clean your floors in one pass. It is capable of removing pet hair and other particles but it can't do very well on thick carpets. It also does a great job of determining its coverage area and avoiding low obstacles. It's a bit more raucous than other robot vacuums, but it's normal for this kind of device.

It has an excellent battery life and can be controlled through the SharkClean app, or by voice commands if you own an intelligent speaker such as Alexa or Google Assistant. The app lets you know the robot's remaining battery life and lets you set different cleaning modes and schedule a time when you want to clean your home. You can also set virtual boundaries to stop it from entering areas where it could be entangled or knock a delicate object over.

The Shark AI Robot has a solid construction and is easy to install right out of the box. The body is made of matte and glossy plastic, with wheels and front bumpers made of rubber. Its oblong shape allows it to fit its tank of water and its tall LIDAR mapping sensor. It doesn't require any significant assembly from the box except for snapping the side brushes in place. This makes it easier to put together unlike other models that require more effort and components. It is a bit on the heavy side however, at almost 18 pounds.

Smart Navigation

The Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 provides a wide range of automated features. It comes with an app that allows you to view the status of the mop and vacuum and receive push notifications, to pause or resume cleaning, or control it using voice commands, if are using Amazon Alexa or Google Home. You can also set up the robot to send itself back to its dock, change its power mode, or even direct it to a specific room.

When you first start it the app will prompt you to take the robot on a preliminarily run, during which it will sketch out your space and draw a floor plan. Rooms can be labeled, create No-Go Zones and High-Traffic Zones, and establish virtual boundaries that the robot won't cross. You can also make use of the app to schedule cleaning sessions, examine the robot's history, charge status and even its charge history or update the software.

Although the robot is clever and does a fantastic job of navigating its surroundings, it may occasionally get stuck on obstacles, such as electrical cords or furniture. It's important to clear off the floor of large debris and clutter before turning on the mop or vacuum.

In my tests during my testing, during my testing, the Shark cleaned floors with no floor and carpets with a remarkable efficiency. Mopping also worked well. The vacuum and mop combo is also quite quiet at 50dB. This is about the volume of a refrigerator.

It also has physical boundaries that you can put in front of areas where you don't want it to be able to.

Long Battery Life

There's no doubt that dual-functioning robot vacuums and mop cleaners have a premium. Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1, which we reviewed, costs $699, £559, or AU$1,054 if purchased with the bagless charging base. Even without the base, it still costs $649 / PS449 / $681 in Australia.

The Shark AI Ultra is an excellent robot mop and vacuum for most people. It is great at clearing pet hair from the floor and can sweep a room multiple times before needing to charge. It comes with a mopping pad which you can wash between uses.

The only drawback is that its navigation system is prone to some issues, particularly when it comes to getting around obstacles such as furniture. It also leaves behind dirty spots. However, the robot vacuum and mop can do a great job clearing these areas when it's set to 'Eco' mode which is designed to minimize the use of power.

The battery life is good, extending to about 90 minutes in our tests. The app lets you program it to clean a room or at a particular time. This is useful if you are required to leave your home for a long period of duration. You can also control the Shark AI Ultra using voice commands with Alexa and Google Assistant devices. There are two buttons for control on the robot if do not want to use the app.

App Control
