If you're on a budget and don't need a stroller that doubles up as car seat carriers the Babyzen Yoyo is a good option. It has a simple one-step foot brake that's flip-flop friendly.

It's simple to push, and it is solid when traversing kerbs and woodland trails. It's also a breeze to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has earned itself a reputation as the most lightweight buggy for jet-setters and city dwellers alike, thanks to its extremely nimble handling and fold-down that fits into the overhead luggage of an aeroplane. The most recent version comes with independent suspension on all 4 wheels comprised of Hytrel elastomer. This allows it to 'perfectly navigate all terrains and types'.

The YOYO2 frame base, curved fabric bassinet and 6+ month colour pack come together to create a stylish pushchair that is easy to look at with a subtle yet elegant design and a tasteful branding. The base frame weighs less than a kilo, and is so lightweight that you can lift it out of the box using just one hand.

The hood, for example snaps onto the YOYO2 in a calm way. It is machine washable up to 30 degrees, which helps to prevent stains caused by smushed rice cakes and carrot puffs. It can be used as a pram starting from birth with the Newborn Pack or bassinet, or converted into a stroller from 6 months old by clicking on the YOYO Connect additional chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a fantastic choice for parents who are looking for a versatile stroller wagon. The Evenflo Pivot Xplore can be converted from a stroller into a wagon by simply flipping the handle. Parents can then select the best mode for their needs. The wagon can hold one or two kids from 6 months old to 5 years old, and it comes with a spacious storage basket that can accommodate everything you require on the go.

The Xplore also features dual canopies that turn from the front to the back, offering ample sun coverage for all family members. It also has a footwell that's not as large or deep as some wagons, so it may not be ideal for longer excursions or for napping.

The frame of the Xplore wagon feels solid and sturdy, but it does not flex like other wagons we test. It is also more difficult to fold than many of the competition and does not secure when folded. It is easy to move, however, and it can fit through doors with a width of 28 inches.

3. Delta Children LX Side by Side

This bare-bones double stroller from Delta Children is an excellent option for parents who want an affordable, second-hand travel stroller. It scored highly in our Strollers & Multiples Test for weight and folded dimensions, meaning it is lightweight, compact when folded, and easy to lift and store in a trunk for your car. It also comes with an adjustable recline seat that can be adjusted in multiple positions and a cup holder for the parent. Other important features include 360-degree shock absorbing front wheels, as well as two large hanging storage bags.

It did better in our push and turn test than a lot of the strollers we tested, but it is still difficult to maneuver over uneven terrain or through narrow doors. The sunshades it has are among the ones we tested the smallest, providing only direct overhead coverage and no windows that peek out. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 has a much larger canopy.

It took us less than three minutes to put together the Delta using a standard manual. The parts are all non-required and required tools. It's missing some features that we consider essential in a double stroller. These include an extra-large basket, reclining seats, and leg rests that can be adjusted.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is the newest version of Maxi-Cosi's pushchair range and is billed as an urban travel system. It is designed to take babies from birth to around 3.5 years old, and can be converted into a seat and carrycot in just a few clicks. It can also be used with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats, and comes with the light Mico 30 infant car seat, a stay-incar base, and a reversible car.

The seat reclines with one hand, and the large shopping basket makes it easy for parents to help their child in and out. This narrow pushchair handled every day bumps and doors easily.

The front wheels can to be locked in a forward position and can also swivel. This is helpful when navigating rough terrain. When we walked through the stony trail, we allowed them to swivel and it handled this fairly well although it did seem a little bumpier than others on test.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Baby Jogger is most famous for its 3-wheeled all-terrain jogging strollers. But they also make a broad range of 4-wheeler pushchairs. City Tour 2 is their most popular model. It is easy to fold and fits into the boot of a car even with the carrycot attached.

It's a bit heavier than the other strollers we test, but the wheels are rubber composite, which makes it feel well-built and durable. It is easy to maneuver across various terrains and even with two children as well as a shopping bag and other things.

The carrycot and the seat both come with hoods with pull-down sun canopy extensions that are UV50+. They are sturdy and waterproof, unlike other hoods for prams, which can be blown back onto toddlers' faces.

It does not have much storage space, but it does have a large basket deep enough to accommodate a changing bag or plenty of food. It can also be linked with the Baby Jogger infant car seat to create a travel system for babies as big as 20 pounds (car seat and adapters are sold separately). If you need a stroller that is able to be taken on the road, then the City Tour 2 is an excellent choice.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

Nuna Mixx was an infant stroller that captivated the hearts of many parents when it first debuted. It's a stroller made of aluminum that will see you through your baby's initial days and beyond. It's got a lot of standout features, like the ability of the seat to flip between parent and world facing, a large UPF50+ canopy with a flip-out eyeshade, and an adjustable handlebar.

The wheels are tough and foam-filled which minimises punctures. The chassis also has built-in suspension which takes the sting out of rough terrain. Our tester found it smooth to push and was able to manoeuvre it through narrow streets with ease.

It folds in four simple steps and locks automatically without fuss. It can also be rolled and raised for easier transportation down the stairs or in the boot of the car. It also comes with a travel system equipped with the option to add a car seat or carrycot using the included adaptors. The brakes are a single action and are color coded. They also work with flip-flops.

7. Babyzen Duet

This budget single pushchair is surprisingly easy to maneuver and comes with excellent dual suspension, a one-hand fold and a practical carry strap. It's also lightweight and sturdy. The seat can be reclined into a variety of different positions. It also has a double-breathable mattress that's suitable for babies.

The canopy/seat comes with two large sun visors that can be either fixed or flipped out. Both are UPF50+. The toggle closure isn't ideal as it’s not as quiet as Velcro and could awaken napping babies.

The Duet is an angled stroller that can be used by twins or siblings. (Up to 22kg per seat). It is compatible with two infant car seats and some carrycots. In twin mode, the seats can be set so that they face each other. They can also be oriented towards the parents. This will help lessen sibling fights about who sits with mom and dad. It comes with a large bottle holder, a gear tray, snack trays and the ability to change mats. It also comes with a compact stand fold, and an automatic frame lock.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a jogger designed for parents who want to keep active. It's one of the lightest strollers you can buy for your child. It also comes with great safety features like a 5-point harness as well as a safety wrist strap. It also comes with an innovative twist hand brake that's different from the lever type used on rival models.

The seat is very comfortable and provides plenty of space to sit. However, the seat depth is less than that of other joggers (it's just 10 inches deep") The storage bin is equipped with an open-top cover that can be closed to keep items secure. It can hold up to 10 lbs which is sufficient for most diaper bags.

The Urban Glide 2 isn't compatible with bassinets for infants or car seats in the way it is, however you can use it from day one with the purchase of adapters to most seats from brands such as BOB, Graco, Combi, Evenflo, Britax, and UPPAbaby. It folds down compactly and takes about 5-10 minutes to assemble without tools. The user manual is easy to read and is available in multiple languages.
