Some of our top picks come with the simple one-handed folding system some have a multi-position reclining seat or a canopy extendable which can shield your child from the sun and the wind. The best strollers have an adjustable strap for carrying and an enormous storage area beneath the wheels.

The Kolcraft Cloud Plus is one of the most easy models to fold. It can be folded with one hand and even while your child is inside (although this isn't recommended). It's easy to fold and comes with an adjustable handle if you and your companion are different heights. The sun shade is flat and doesn't do much to block rays. The UPPAbaby G-Luxe is a different excellent stroller for traveling. It folds into an equilateral triangle and is as compact as an infant backpack. It has plenty of storage space for diaper bags and weekender bags, with a back pocket and two cup holders for parents. The G-Luxe is only limited by the fact that it does not recline fully and lacks a practical strap for carrying. However, it's an excellent choice for families that are constantly in motion.

The Cybex Libelle is the most compact stroller that is capable of folding. It folds into a rectangular shape that's as slim as a passport. As such, it can easily fit into a purse or backpack. It can also be rolled along airplane aisles, and is a great choice for gate-checking or cabin storage, although it may not fit into the tighter overhead compartments on smaller planes.

It is easy to carry

Lightweight strollers not only require less space in your car, but are easy to store and transport using a carry-on. This makes them perfect for families on the go. Some fold as small as an umbrella, so you can tuck them in the corner of your trunk or into your diaper bag when you're not using them. Some have a handle and some have a padded strap that can be carried over your shoulder.

The tiniest strollers fold into a rectangle shape and measure just 12x14x7 inches when folded, well within airline carry-on restrictions. The Pockit is a good example. It takes two steps and requires both your hands to fold it, but it's so light, you can carry it as backpacks or a tote. Another option that is compact is the Cybex Libelle, which is slightly larger than the Pockit. It also folds into a rectangle shape but measures 13x18x7 inches once folded.

They may not move as smoothly as full size strollers with bigger tires and more powerful suspensions but they're an excellent option for maneuvering through tight spaces like airport terminals or narrow streets on public transport. They can be used on terrains that are rough, such as cobblestones or sandy beaches. However your child is more likely to suffer more bruises and bumps than a stroller of the same size with a robust suspension system.

UPPAbaby's new Minu stroller is an excellent example of a lightweight stroller (www.stes.tyc.edu.tw) that provides a lot of functionality for the price. Its suspension can handle rough terrain, it comes with an excellent canopy (though not as much coverage as our top choice) and the recline mechanism is simple and easy to use. It doesn't fold down like the Yoyo2 and Munchkin Sparrow, nor does it weigh more than the Bugaboo Butterfly. You may need to gate-check this stroller when traveling on flights. The stroller comes with a clever feature it has a retractable handle that can be used as an additional footrest when folded.

Contours Quick Elite is another excellent choice. It can accommodate 30 different car seats (adapter required) or a child up to 50 lbs. It's not quite as light as some of our top choices, but it's compact when folded. It also has an under-seat basket that is large enough to fit an entire backpack.

Easy to store

Look into a stroller that has a compact folding to ensure that it is easy to store and move. These kinds of strollers usually have a built-in stand that you can use to ensure that it is straight when not in use. This lets you easily fit the stroller in your backseat or trunk to be able to quickly access it whenever you need to.

Find a stroller that is lightweight that has an accessory bag or pouch.
