There is currently a national shortage of medications to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing problems and an increased demand in the world.

Our service is private ADHD treatment instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of a single prescription.

Titration

A thorough evaluation of your ADHD symptoms will be conducted with a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist. This includes a complete medical history, and an evaluation using the typical ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

Following your assessment you will be informed if medication is considered to be beneficial for your situation. This will be discussed during your follow-up appointment (which can be done in person, via video link or by telephone). Your doctor will explain what medication options are available and, if you decide to start on medication we will offer to titrate the dose to optimise the balance of benefits and side effects for you.

This is a process which could take a few weeks and requires adjusting your child's dosage gradually until the proper balance is achieved. It is not unusual to need to titrate three or four medications before determining the most effective one for your child's ADHD symptoms. If you decide to return to NHS treatment, you will receive an individual prescription for your medication. You will have to pay at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation cost. If you are unsure of what you would prefer We suggest you talk with your GP before booking your private assessment as some providers have different rules regarding whether they require the submission of a GP referral letter or not. Check if your GP accepts the Shared Care Agreement, which means you will be referred to them once you leave the clinic to get a medication prescription.

Medication
